Welcoming and integrating new board members is essential to long-term board success. An orientation program should be held before the first board meeting (following elections) to establish the appropriate environment in which the board will operate. This program will review fundamental topics that should be covered in a successful orientation process.

*The specific roles and obligations of board members.
*The importance of board committees and the best ways to work with volunteers.
*How to communicate with the owners, renters and service providers.
*Important documents and rules to review.
